Paul P. Szeto, Esq.

Attorney Paul Szeto served as a government prosecutor for the New York District of the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) from 1994 to 1999. As a government attorney, Mr. Szeto personally handled hundreds of immigration cases including immigrant and non-immigrant visa petitions, marriage-based petitions, adjustment of status applications, political asylum, Form I-9 compliance, criminal grounds of exclusion and deportation, suspension of deportation, waivers applications, deportation and removal proceedings, etc.

Mr. Szeto started his legal career through volunteering in legal clinics and clerking for an immigration law firm in the San Francisco Bay Area. Mr. Szeto also served as a student extern for the Chief Administrative Justice of the California Court of Appeal. Mr. Szeto graduated magna cum laude from San Francisco State University in 1989 and earned his Juris Doctor from University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 1994. Over the years, Mr. Szeto has earned various awards such as American Immigration Law Foundation's Edward L. Dubroff Memorial Award for outstanding writing in the field of Immigration and Nationality Law in 1994.

Mr. Szeto is fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin Chinese, and previously worked for Fortune 500 companies Lucent Technologies and Merck-Medco. Mr. Szeto is admitted to the New Jersey Bar and California Bar and is a graduate of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy. Mr. Szeto has practiced extensively before the Federal Immigration Courts and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
